It is customary for Diocese of Lagos West (Anglican Communion) to commence the year with clergy and wives retreat. Year 2023 was no exception. Most clergy looked forward to attending the retreat as they would opportune to fellowship with colleagues priests after the Christmas and New Year holiday. The Bishop of the Diocese, the Rt. Revd.. Dr. James Olusola Odedeji led the retreat at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja on Monday, January 2, 2023.
The retreat commenced with a Holy Communion service and the Diocesan preached the sermon. In his sermon, Bishop Odedeji spoke extensively on attitude. He encouraged the clergy to imbibe good attitude in their ministry as their attitudes would determine their altitudes in life and ministry. He cited various examples from the Scriptures such as Gehazi, Samson and so on whose life and ministry were jeopardized as a result of bad attitudes.
The Revd Bode Daramola also lectured on Mental health and management of stress. He stressed to the participants the practical ways in which couples could help each other in improving mental health and reducing stress at homes.
The retreat ended with different sessions for clergy and wives. Mama Lagos West, Dr. Mrs. Lydia Odedeji held a session with Clergy wives while the Diocesan met with the clergy. It was really a time of refreshing for the clergy and wives.
