GOD DOES THE BEST FOR THOSE WHO LEAVE THE CHOICE TO HIM - Bishop Odedeji.

GOD DOES THE BEST FOR THOSE WHO LEAVE THE CHOICE TO HIM - Bishop Odedeji.

As it is traditional in christendom to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on every 25th of December, so it was at the Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church Cathedral, AVMCC, GRA Ikeja Lagos on Monday,25th December, 2023 when the entire congregation trooped out in typical Christmas colors of green and red to give thanks to God almighty in a Holy Eucharist service, for witnessing another Christmas in the land of the living.

In his sermon titled "the Joy of His Birth", the Diocesan, the Rt.Revd.Dr.James Olusola Odedeji started by appreciating and congratulating the congregation for witnessing another Christmas.

Taking his text from John 1,Vs 1-14, he described Christmas as a very special occasion that everyone in the world look up to; a time when all wants to be with ones' family.

According to him, the birth of Christ has to do with unconditional love for mankind. "By His birth, there s no limitations, hence we're more than conquerors", he added. Bishop Odedeji went further to liken a life without Christ to a life in crisis, because through His birth, mankind has been given the link to the source of life. In his word:"the birth of Christ gave us the will to transform from darkness unto light". The Diocesan listed the benefits of the joy of His Birth as the joy of salvation; the joy of His presence; the joy of dominion over the power of darkness; the joy of answered prayers; and the joy of better tomorrow.

He went further to admonish christians on what is expected of them at Christmas:

  • Let Christ be born in you.
  • Let Christ be praised in you through a life of praise."When you serve God, God will service you" he added.

In conclusion, he urged the congregation to embrace a life of prayers because if "there s no prayer, theres no God". Highpoint of the service was the Christmas thanksgiving during which the congregation danced to the altar with melodious songs from the Cathedral choir, and offered birthday gift to Jesus Christ in appreciation.
