INCREASE EVANGELISM BISHOP ODEDEJI TELLS PARISHIONERS IN IJU-ISHAGA ARCHDEACONRY DURING HIS VISIT

As part of the Episcopal assignment, the Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt Revd Dr James Olusola Odedeji in company with his wife, Dr Mrs Lydia Olukemi Odedeji visited Iju-Ishaga Archdeaconry on Friday, April 7, 2025. They warmly welcome by the parishioners.

During the visit he emphasized the need for increased evangelism, as he described the region as a strategic hub for spreading the gospel, given the continuous influx of people to the place due to socio-economic factors. According to Diocesan, the place is densely populated and many of them that are Anglicans are still going to worship in far places like AVMCC, GRA, Ikeja and Christ Church Cathedral, Marina. They need to search them out.

The parishes visited parishes in Iju-Ishaga Archdeaconry are St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Kongo Agbado; Anglican Church of the Epiphany, Adiyan; St. James Anglican Church, Abule-Iroko; Anglican Church, Lemode-Ijoko; and Anglican Church, Ope-Ilu, Anglican Church of Messiah, Ajuwon; St Peters Anglican Church Ojokoro, Anglican Church of the Pentecost, Olaniyi, St Barnabas Church, Oko Oba, and the Archdeaconry headquarters, St John’s Anglican Church, Iju-ishaga.

He commended parishioners for the beautiful worship houses built for the glory of God despite the harsh economy

The Diocesan also acknowledged ongoing efforts by both Lagos and Ogun state governments to improve road infrastructure in the area. He urged Christians in the area to remain prayerful for the swift completion of these projects.

Bishop Odedeji also encouraged parishioners to love one another and continue to pray for the church of God and its leadership.

“I challenged you my people to call on your friends, sons and daughters both here in Nigeria and diaspora to assist in developing our churches because while the diocese is willing to assist parishes under it, there is the challenge of meeting the increasing demand for assistance.

He however pledged that despite the limitations, the diocese will continue to strive to assist churches where and when necessary.
