ABOUT PIONEERED BISHOP AND PRESIDENT OF WOMEN ORGANISATIONS

Late Rt. Revd Dr. Peter Awelewa and Mrs. Caroline Adefiola Adebiyi were enthroned as Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West (Anglican Communion) on November 20, 1999 after being translated from the Diocese of Owo, in Ondo State. Mama Adebiyi pioneered the work of Women Organisations from then till her retirement with her husband on April 27, 2013 due to the compulsory retirement of 70 years. The Women Organisation witnessed tremendous growth under her leadership. She was known for her doggedness in reaching girls with the Gospel and making sure they are well educated to become godly mothers in the future. Her humility and passion for women and girls was exceptional.

Mama Adebiyi of blessed memory founded Anglican Girls' College, Ketu, Ijanikin in 2006 and also she was instrumental to establishing Women Conference Centre, Ipaja, Lagos. The Women Centre is now named after her as Caroline Adefiola Women Conference Centre, Ipaja, Lagos also know as City of God< ipaja.

Mama Adebiyi handed over the women work in the Diocese of Lagos West to Dr. Mrs, Lydia Olukemi Adebiyi in April 28, 2013. Since then the women work has further grown beyond expectations under the incumbent leadership.

She was survived by children and many grand children.
