The Diocese of Lagos West Women and Girls' Organisations comprise four arms namely:

  • 4. Royal Gems And Vessels


  • These four arms have their aims and objectives but all working for the same goal which is to complement the efforts of the Priests to bring both women and the Youth closer to God and to train them fit for the Kingdom of God.



    ACTIVITIES OF WOMEN ORGANISATIONS

    REDEDICATION: We started the year 2014, with our Rededication Services in 4 Zones namely the Archbishop Vining Cathedral Church, Ikeja, Church of Pentecost, Festac, Bolal Memorial Ikeja and Holy Trinity Ikorodu on the 26th January, 2014 at 3:00p.m. and the theme was "WE WILL SERVE THE LORD" Josh. 24: 15

    ADMINISTRATORS' WIVES MEETINGS: It was held once in two months where prayers and issues of concern were discussed.

    CLERGYWIVES RETREAT: This was held at St. Jude's Anglican Church, Omole on the 18th July 2014 and our theme was "A CALL TO GODLY LIVING" Titus 2: 1-5.

    WELFARE SERVICES: These were rendered to priest wives, widows of clergy and the needy women amongst us. Four clergywives were sponsored for vocational training in their area of interests. Christmas gifts were given to the retired priest wives and widows of clergy. A party was organised for them on December 22nd 2014. The sick were visited and support services were rendered to the needy.

    1ST JOINT MOTHERS' UNION AND WOMEN'S GUILD CONFERENCE: This was held between 28th - 30th August, 2014 at our Women Conference Centre, our theme was "BEING FILLED WITH THE FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS" Phil 1: 11. We had 920 delegates in attendance; a four hour prayer ministration was done on the 30th August, 2014 to round off the conference.

    MIDYEAR PRAYER: Our Annual Women Midyear vigil was held at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church on 2nd July 2014 with the theme "A CALL TO GODLY LIVING" and it was well attended.

    WOMEN OF VIRTURE: The 1st edition of the women of virtue a daily devotional guide was published for the use of all women throughout our Diocese.

    LADIES, GIRLS AND BOYS' GUILD: Handbooks for our Ladies, Girls and Boys guild were produced for the use of our youths. The annual conference and workshop were held on 1st May and 5th-6th August, 2014 respectively. Power point presentation on Child Abuse and Hygiene was taken. Flower vases made with beads were produced.

    DIOCESAN JESUS FESTIVAL: This was held on 19th April, 2014 at our field where we celebrated Jesus in a grand style as all archdeaconries within our diocese came up with different styles with match pass to celebrate Jesus and it was well attended by our women who took active part in the program.

    TRIUMPHANT CONVOCATION: This is an open air crusade of our diocese for the end of the year and it was held between 18th – 21st November, 2014 with a vigil on the last day, the women played a significant role in the program.

    YOUNG WIVES FELLOWSHIP: An arm of the Mothers' Union was inaugurated at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral Church on 30th November, 2014 and other Archdeaconry headquarters, about 60 women whose marriages are between 0 – 15 years were enrolled. Topical issues of interest such as finance in marriage etc were discussed.

    ENROLMENTS: 391 new members were enrolled into the Diocesan Mothers' Union while enrolment into the Women's Guild and Ladies/Girls/Boys' Guild were done at the Archdeaconry level.

    OUR PROJECTS:
    1. ANGLICAN GIRLS COLLEGE, KETU-IJANIKIN: The ongoing building construction at the Anglican Girls College was roofed in December 2014. Work is still in progress.

    2. CAROLINE ADEFIOLA ADEBIYI WOMEN'S CONFERENCE CENTRE, IPAJA: The new dining Hall at the Women Conference Centre was completed in the year under review and was used during the women conference. We have started to build the Women Hostel of about 250 rooms ensuite to enable all our delegates to reside within the centre during conferences. We are trusting God to help us to complete it in a good time.

    PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
    With the help of God, we are planning to build a Hostel that will accommodate 500 students in our school. Also to make the school a co-educational school.

    We are building a Hostel at Women Conference Centre that will accommodate 400 people to complement the ones already on ground to house the delegates for various seminars and conferences.

    APPRECIATION
    At this Juncture, we really appreciate the efforts of the Pioneer Bishop and President of the Women & Girls' Organisations of the Diocese of Lagos West, Rt. Rev Dr. Peter Awelewa and Mrs Caroline Adefiola Adebiyi for their labour of love in steering the ship of this diocese for 13 years. We really appreciate them for the good and laudable foundation they made which we are building upon we pray that God will continue to guide and protect them always in Jesus name.
