In continuation of the silver jubilee celebration of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Elderly Ministry Program was held on Monday 18th November, 2024 at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA Ikeja.
The ceremony which had the Diocesan, the Rt. Revd James Olusola Odedeji, as well as the Dean, Ven. Ebenezer Adewole and other clergies in attendance, was held in the main auditorium of the Cathedral.
In his address, Bishop Odedeji appreciated the Elderly Ministry for their support to him, and even to his predecessor in office, s Bishop Adebiyi. He also thanked the Elderly Ministry's Diocesan Chaplain, Venerable L.L. Esho for the noble work he's doing among the elders of the church.
The event featured Dancing Competition, presentation of gifts in the categories of 10 Elders of 90 years and above,5 Winners in the traditional attire competition, and 5 Winners in the dancing competition.
The vote of Thanks was given by a Veteran Journalist, Elder Gboyega Amoloye.
The Diocesan Elderly Ministry came into being under the leadership of s Bishop Adebiyi, and it was inaugurated on 11th April, 1999. Its main objective is to cater to the welfare of the elderly among the parishioners.
