The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos West Diocese, the Rt. Revd. Dr. James Olusola Odedeji on behalf of Diocese of Lagos West honoured the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Owoseni for his gallant and active participation towards the rescue of the three Babington Mercury Junior Seminary (BMJS) girls whom was kidnapped at their School at Ikorodu area of Lagos State. The School Principal, Ven. Olaoluwa Adeyemi attributed the release of the girls, from the Commissioner’s fruitful effort. He commended the Commissioner’s rapid response in mobilising his team and ensures the girls were release and their abductors arrested.
The Diocesan Father of Lagos West Diocese Chief Olusegun Osunkeye OON who presented the token to the Commissioner also prayed for him that the Lord almighty will continue to be his Shepherd. He wished that he succeeded in his entire endeavour. .
In acknowledgements, Mr. Owoseni thanked the Diocesan and the entire members of Lagos West on the honour given to him by the Diocese. He stated he always run away from such occasion, that he believes such award should be given at the time of retirement. .
He further said that indeed the country is truly worried of all the criminal activities and life abuses going on in this Country. And encourage all to remain united as One-Nigeria and shun violence of any kind. He urged citizens to inculcate the spirit of forgiveness towards one another. .
He also advice parents to always advice and support their daughters not to stick to any violent marriage to avoid being killed by some frustrated husbands in the name of marriage. .
The Most Revd. Michael Akinyemi, the Diocesan Bishop of Igbomina prayed for the Police Commissioner as well as the representative of the Lagos State Governor Dr. Benson Oke Akintola. .
