BISHOP ODEDEJI DEDICATES VICARAGE IN OLDEST CHURCH

It sounds unbelievable that a parish Church established about 130years ago had no befitting vicarage. This is the case of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Isheri-Oke in Ikeja Archdeaconry of the Diocese. This Church was established in 1884 with the vicarage in 1887. The building still stands strong in the valley of the border of Lagos with Ogun State beside the River Ogun. Many great Priests lived in this oldest vicarage in the Diocese of Lagos West.

But on Wednesday October 30, 2013, another duplex vicarage was dedicated to replace the older one and this was performed by the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt Revd Olusola James Odedeji. It was a joyous occasion and historical to the Diocesan.

Bishop Odedeji in his sermon encouraged the members to forget the past and that there were still more to be done though the beautiful edifice built. He then encouraged them to evangelise the community to fill the Church because it was never built for goats. He concluded that the building of the vicarage is a sign of good thing to come for the church because he had a lot of respect for the church.

He congratulated the incumbent vicar, the Revd Joel Akeredolu for his fruitful work in the church and the Archdeacon of the area, the Venerable Tunde Owoyele.
